The Great lakes region offers local and visiting anglers some of the best varieties of fishing in NSW. With summer fast approaching, we are looking forward to the warm currents, plenty of light game and sportfishing offshore and the rocks.

The lakes are starting to warm up and the prawns are again running after a slow start and the crabs shouldn’t be far off.

Wallis Lake is well known for its oyster crunching bream and plenty of anglers are already prefishing for 2 grand finals being held in our region next month.

I fished last week and found some big bream on the Strada Zeida surface lure and the flathead readily taking the Instinct Red Eye and Strada Quicka hard bodies, worked very aggressively.

Tackle World tip… look for coloured water…. It is the “real zone” anglers should be working this time of year.

Target Species this season: Pearl Perch and traglin offshore for the bait fisho’s and plenty of snapper for lure tossers. 7 inch Gulp Jerk Shads and 145 mm Squidgy flickbaits are the go.
